Braces are a common orthodontic treatment that help to straighten your teeth.

Braces are an increasingly popular orthodontic treatment that help to correct misaligned teeth. There are many reasons for wanting to get braces, though it is often necessary for those with severe malocclusions, or other dental problems. For a detailed explanation of how braces might help, you can read our Braces 101 article, which also includes a comprehensive overview of the different types of braces and some frequently asked questions.

Regardless of whether you are an adult patient hoping to achieve a straighter smile, or a parent looking for affordable braces for your child to fix crooked teeth, this article will help you understand the different braces treatments and costs. Here, we will cover the following:

How much do braces cost?

At NTUC Health Denticare, we offer both traditional braces and Damon (self-ligating) braces. Before starting on your braces journey, the cost of the entire orthodontic treatment will be clearly laid out during the initial consultations. This is mostly determined by the complexity of the case, length of treatment and the type of braces used.

These are the prices for the braces treatments we offer at NTUC Health Denticare:

Single Arch Treatment

From $2,782

Double Arch Treatment

From $4,500

Retainers (per arch)

From $220

*These prices are correct at the time of publishing. Please check with our clinics for the latest prices

What affects the cost of braces?

There are two main factors that determine the cost of your braces treatment. The first is the type of braces used. For example, traditional braces in metal or ceramic are relatively affordable options while lingual braces are the most expensive because they involve customised brackets and are complicated to install and adjust.

The second factor is the complexity of the orthodontic treatment. Individuals with more severe malocclusions, such as an underbite, may require a longer treatment to properly align their teeth. This means more visits to the orthodontist for adjustments and cleaning, which translates into a lengthier and costlier treatment. Some patients may also require jaw surgery as part of their treatment plan.

During your initial consultations, our NTUC Health Denticare orthodontist will carefully evaluate the condition of your teeth and gums before proposing a treatment plan.

How do I pay for my braces treatment at Denticare?

During your initial consultations, our orthodontist will evaluate the condition of your teeth and gums. This involves a comprehensive examination that might include X-rays, dental impressions and photos of your teeth to diagnose dental problems. Refer to our fees and subsidies page for more information on consultation fees and additional costs.

Subsequently, our orthodontist will propose a treatment plan that is customised to your needs. Details like the number of visits needed will be included, along with the total cost of the braces treatment. He or she will also advise you on the initial payment and installments.

Are there any subsidies for braces?

There are no CHAS subsidies currently available for braces treatment. For more information, you can visit the CHAS website. Braces treatments are not MediSave claimable as well.
