Hear from our Occupational Therapists

In the nursing home, we usually work with seniors who are frail and often with chronic and multiple medical conditions. Through therapy, we get to see them regaining and maintaining their independence in daily activities, and returning to the community!

After I got promoted to Senior Occupational Therapist, this opened up leadership opportunities for me to oversee the allied health team across all of our nursing homes and the opportunity to set up rehabilitation gyms in the nursing homes.

I chose to work at NTUC Health because of the professional development opportunities available. With the support of my reporting officer and team, I completed my postgraduate education through the Community Care Manpower Development Awards (CCMDA) sponsorship.

There are many opportunities for therapists to grow professionally in areas like clinical expertise, education, and research, allowing them to enhance their work experience according to their interests and skills.

I particularly enjoy visiting the seniors at their homes. This helps hone my competence as an occupational therapist to maximise their functional performance within the environment where they feel most familiar and comfortable.
