Dental implants provide both a natural looking and functional close replacement for teeth that are lost.
A dental implant is made of biocompatible nickel titanium which is surgically placed into the jaw bone. The implant is left for 4 to 6 months to allow bone to grow around it and to secure the implant. The implant acts as a foundation of the artificial tooth, which is used to support a crown, bridge or denture placed over it.
The advantages of dental implants over traditional bridges is that it does not require a neighbouring tooth to be “sacrificed” in order to provide support, thus allowing for neighbouring teeth to be preserved.
